BYU Student Nurses Arrive in Ghana

We mentioned in the last update that a group of student nurses from BYU arrived in Accra in late April for a Spring term global health and diversity class. Besides Ghana, nursing students went to Ecuador, Argentina, Hawaii and Utah. They work with various groups of people with unique health issues such as HIV patients, terminally ill children, and prison inmates. This was the first year for the class to come to Ghana. Emily Dougall was one of the students. She provided us with some great pictures that tell a little of what this group did during their stay in Ghana. Their contributions at work, at church, and even at play are significant. Here is a small sample of their activities. Thanks for sharing the pictures, Emily.

Discovering Ghana and making friends

Ostrich Egg
Are you ready for an ostrich egg?
This is Africa.
Don't let food go to waste.
Does that mean head and bones?
Eating Fish

Bus Making Friends
Part of the class was learning about
Ghana, so a little touring was in order.
The students stayed in temple housing
where they made friends with patrons.
It is not clear who entertained whom
between the nurses and the children.

Sneaker Coffin Canopy Walk
Ghanaians like fancy coffins.
Can I be buried in a Nike sneaker?
Emily on the canopy walk over
a real rain forest. The advice is:

Looking down on a canopy
Don't look down on the canopy walk.
